The alphabet

As we have learnt the sounds of the letters but not their names, now it is time to learn the alphabet. Here you have got two videos to learn the ABC song and not to forget the letters' sounds. Let's sing!

Notice that the letter Z is called /zed/ in England, but in America it is called /zee/.

THE INVESTIGATION BOARD

In the English classroom we've got a fantastic board with lots of investigation projects made by the students in Year 2 in their houses. Every project you bring to the classroom is showed and we talk about it IN ENGLISH. Of course, after such presentation I give you a positive mark because it means you show interest in the topic we are dealing with. 

I encourage you all to continue working this way at home and I remind you that the next topic we are going to work on is "Animals", so if you have got a picture of your pet you can take it to the classroom.

Pet = domestic animal that lives with you at home.

PROYECTO ETWINNING / eTwinning project

¡Buenas tardes!

Al encontrarnos en un colegio bilingüe, el inglés lo vamos a utilizar como un vehículo para comunicarnos habitualmente, al igual que hacemos con el español. Para ello, los alumnos y alumnas de 2º de Primaria del CEIP Arco de la Sierra nos vamos a involucrar en un proyecto europeo titulado 'Skip through the Seasons' - How Our Environment Changes in a Year ("A través de las estaciones" - Cómo cambia nuestro entorno en un año).

Este proyecto ha sido diseñado por nuestro colegio, Sileby Redlands Community Primary School de Leicestershire (Reino Unido), Ecole élémentaire Hauteville-Lompnes de Hauteville-Lompnes (Francia) y el Istituto Comprensivo Ancona Nord de Ancona (Italia). 

Como ven, somos cuatro centros de Educación Primaria europeos que tendremos contacto a través de la plataforma digital proporcionada por http://www.etwinning.net, que forma parte del programa Comenius, el programa de la Unión Europea para la enseñanza escolar. Este proyecto ha sido aprobado por el Servicio Nacional de Apoyo de eTwinning.

Con respecto al citado proyecto que vamos a desarrollar nuestro colegio junto con otro de Francia, Reino Unido e Italia, pretendemos observar e investigar las diferencias que existen en los entornos naturales dependiendo de la estación del año en la que nos encontramos y en la parte de Europa en la que vivimos. No es lo mismo el otoño español que el de Reino Unido, Francia o Italia. Además de esto, usaremos el inglés como lengua para comunicarnos entre nosotros, por lo que este idioma adquiere un rol más significativo aún que el que tiene en el contexto de un colegio bilingüe.
